The screen block was a trendy must-have from the late 1950s through the 1960s especially in climates where the challenges of sun protection called for architectural solutions. The screen block has its origins in the wooden grilles found in Moorish and Hindu architecture. And this is exactly what I love so much -- they create an exotic, elegant flair and are at the same time understated.

Branch Settee and Bench

This original Branch Settee was created in 1938 when Elsie de Wolf had it designed by the House of Jansen for her famous Circus Ball, held at her home, the Villa Trianon. Hand carved in alder wood with a white rubbed antique finish.

The German architect J. Mayer has installed an astonishing ‘Parasol’ constructed mainly from wood that is remarkable held together by glue. This re-development of Seville’s 'Plaza de la Encarnation’ is housing a museum, farmers market, bars and restaurants… stunning. I love how this design is mimicking alien shapes and at the same time complimenting the original architecture of Seville…!
